The idea for the Now Clock came to me 20 years ago when my kitchen clock stopped working. It was indicative of the fact that my life had also stopped working.
I had just moved from my homeland, London, England, to California. My life was in tatters after some major knocks to my ego… my business went belly up, relationship woes etc…
Around that same time I began to open up to the fact that maybe there was something more to life, something my fast-paced goal-oriented self had missed… something behind the veil… a spiritual dimension.
I had just read a quirky little book by Ram Dass titled: “Be Here Now.”
So, instead of replacing the clock battery, I decided to change my life. I dismantled the clock, removed the hands, wrote “now” on a piece of paper, and stuck it in the center of the clock. It reminded me to stay in the present, and not focus too much on the past, or worry about the future.
The Now Clock evolved over time, (ha, ha) with the addition of moving pendulums with inspirational messages that help create the feeling of whatever we want in life. A simple change from one clip-on pendulum to another inspires you with a totally different message, yet still with the power of now.
When Eckhart Tolle’s “The Power of Now” hit number one on the New York Times Best Seller list, I had a feeling that maybe there were other people out there who would ‘get’ the message of the Now Clock.
We live in a fast-paced world, and life goes by in the blink of an eye. The Now Clock helps us to reflect on what is really important in our life. It may be something simple like quitting work early one day to enjoy a game of golf or take children and animal friends to the park. Or, it may encourage someone to pick up the phone and call an estranged family member, realizing that no one will be around forever. Or, as I have witnessed over the years, it just makes someone ponder a moment then smile.
The message of each Now Clock is affirmative, uplifting, positive, healing, and whimsical. The only goal is to touch people’s lives in a positive way. NOW.
